RedHat is one of the largest and most recognized companies dedicated to open source software and the largest distributor of the Linux operating system. Red Hat was founded in 1993 and has its corporate headquarters in Raleigh, North Carolina with satellite offices worldwide.
RedHat is currently available in 2 basic forms the commercial version RedHat Enterprise Linux and the free version Fedora. Of course you can get the commercial version for free, well at least sorta.
RedHat uses the RPM Package Manager to manage it's software.
